This database contains 2884 records of ginger species and cultivars (including both Zingiberaceae and Costaceae) along with the following fields:
Cultivated? : A yes indicates I have seen this plant offered for sale somewhere.
Fragrant? : Indicates whether the flowers or foliage is fragrant.
Height : Gives the plant's height in feet or inches.
Colors : Gives the predominent colors of the flowers and/or bracts.
Zone : Gives the minimum USDA hardiness zone of the plant.
Light : Gives the sun/shade info.
This database contains detailed botanical descriptions of Costus species, including the sheaths, ligules, petioles, leaves, bracts, bracteoles, calyx, corolla, labellum and stamen. As with the Ginger Database, the data is from my main database and will be updated from time to time with additions and corrections.
