NOTES AND DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:Species closely related to Costus sprialis and Costus geothyrsus. Differs from C. spiralis by yellow flowers and longer calyx. Differs from C. geothyrsus by smaller leaves, yellow flowers and shorter calyx with fibrous margins.
NATURAL DISTRIBUTION:Easter Peru, primary rainforest.
HEIGHT:1 to 4 meters
