NOTES AND DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:Costus sprucei can easily be recognized by its strigose or villose sheaths and its usually chartaceous bracts. It is closest to C. chartaceus, also akin to C. scaber and C. lasius. SEE TABLE COMPARING THESE 4 SPECIES.
