NOTES AND DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:Described and named by Maas in 1976. Recognized by attractive coppery colored undersides of leaves. It is further characterized by the dense hairs and appendaged bracts. Probably closest to C. comosus & C. productus.
NATURAL DISTRIBUTION:Collected near San Diego de Colorado, above Puerto Asis at 650 m, Putumayo, Colombia
