NOTES AND DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:This species is close to Costus comosus, distinguished by the sub-appendaged bracts, and the calyx which exceeds the bracts during fructification.
NATURAL DISTRIBUTION:Collected near Calisaya, Rio Bopi, dep. La Paz, Bolivia, 750-900 m.
