DESCRIPTION: | This accession grows to about 0.7 meters tall. Sheath, ligules, petioles and leaves both sides all glabrous. Ligules are 22 mm long and lobed; petioles are 13 mm long. Leaves are distinctively large and silvery grey in color, not plicate, 37 cm long by 16 cm wide. Inflorescence terminal on a leafy stem. Bracts dark red, sub-appendaged with margins curled inward, reflexed at apex, indistinct yellow nectar callus. Flowers yellow, tubular, dark red at apex, abaxially oriented. |
