LOCATION:
Parque Nacional Tapanti at 1300 m, along the bank of a creek

SOURCE:
Measured and photographed on site.

GENERAL:
Plant 2 m tall, bracts showy, orange and yellow, flower small yellow. labellum and stamen yellow

RHIZOME :


SHEATH:
stem glabrous

LIGULE:
glabrous, truncate, .5 cm long with dark purple margin

PETIOLE:
0.5 cm long

LEAVES:
upper side glabrous, underside sparsely puberulous, apex short acuminate

INFLORESCENCE:


BRACTS:
reddish orange with yellow-orange apendage, glabrous, curved in at margin, pointing straight up, nectar callous absent

APPENDAGE:


BRACTEOLE:
boat shaped, red with yellow at apex, 2.5 cm long

CALYX:
red with yellow at apex, glabrous, 1.9 cm long, flat and short lobed, almost rounded at apex
