DETERMINATION:
By Tom Wood, named by Dave Skinner.

GENERAL:
A compact plant with beautiful felty soft foliage and colorful red inflorescence, yellow flowers.

RHIZOME :


SHEATH:
Green, pubescent, fine, short soft hairs, 18 mm in diameter.

LIGULE:
Green, pub. 3-5 mm in length.

PETIOLE:


LEAVES:
Green, to 29 cm long by 12 cm wide.

INFLORESCENCE:


BRACTS:
Red, pub. 2-2.5 cm long by 1.7-2.0 cm wide.

APPENDAGE:
Yes, red to green, pub., foliaceous, 3 cm long by 2 cm wide.

BRACTEOLE:
Red to green, pub., broad boat shaped, 2.5 cm long by 1 cm wide.

CALYX:
Red, pub., round tubular, 1.7 cm long by .7 cm wide.

COROLLA:
Yellow, glabrous, 3.5-4.0 cm long by 1.1-1.5 cm wide.

LABELLUM:
Yellow, red at apex, glabrous, covered by corolla lobes, 5 deep cut, tubular, 3.5 cm long by .8 cm wide.

STAMEN:
Yellow with reddish tinges, glabrous, apex acute triangular, rolled and tubular shape, 3.5 cm long by .6 cm wide.
