The Genus Kaempferia in Thailand - Thaya Jenjittikul (Speaker), Kai Larsen, and Oradee Sahavacharin
Ms. Jenjittikul described the Kaempferia species found in Thailand and showed slides. The two newest species are Kaempferia candida and Kaempferia grandifolia. Also shown was K. filifolia "spider Kaempferia", a new Kaempferia, soon to be described, called "leopard Kaempferia with dots on the leaves and a silvery striped Kaempferia which may be a form of K. angustifolia. She also explained that Kaempferia parviflora is believed by the Thais to be an aphrodisiac and the price has risen dramatically.
