Parahellenia globosa

GENUS PARAHELLENIA


Parahellenia is a new genus, separated out from Hellenia in 2022. It was established in the journal Plant Diversity and is available on the internet at THIS LINK. The most obvious difference between species in this genus and species remaining in Hellenia (f/k/a Cheilocostus) is that they flower on a separate, basal shoot instead of terminal on a leafy stem. In addition to moving some existing species out of Hellenia, the authors also described two new species, listed below.
