BOTANICAL NOTES:
This plant was found near Lita, Ecuador, not far from the Colombian border. It has characters of Costus leucanthus and of Costus lima. No seeds were found so this may have been a sterile hybrid. This was one of the examples of natural hybrids that was included in my article I wrote for the Heliconia Society International quarterly Bulletin, Vol. 18, No. 2, June 2012.
