PLANT FAMILY: Costaceae
BOTANICAL NAME: Costus allenii aff. Anchicaya form
FORMAL SCIENTIFIC NAME:
Plant found along road in Chocó, upper Anchicaya, Colombia, not in flower when collected.
Flowered in 2016, and it has white hairs on all vegetative parts, with open labellum flower, non-appendaged bracts, seems closest to C. allenii, but different from the form found in Colombia, Choco, Bahia Solano area.
UPDATE 2017: I discussed this with Paul Maas and showed him the photos of this plant in flower. He said that based on the orientation of the flowers this is not C. allenii. Like Costus laevis the flowers of C. allenii are oriented in a more upright direction toward the axis of the inflorescence.
