GINGERSRUS CATALOG LISTING:
I found this plant growing in Panama in Carla Black's garden, but I do not know the original collection location. The flowers clearly are C. pulverulentus flowers, but it must be a hybrid with some other species, perhaps Costus laevis. The deep purple undersides to the leaves and the purple bands on the ligules are beautiful, and I do have a passion for beautiful foliage in my Costus. It flowers easily and grows to less than 4 feet tall, making it an easy one for the greenhouse.
