BOTANICAL NOTES:
Osia Gideon Monograph: Listed as a terminal flowering species with straight bracts and inflorescence > 12 cm in diameter, with flowers much shorter than bracts (flower to bract length ratio 1.6 to 1.9). Young bracts dark grey-green to black, flowers 37-39 mm long, inflorescence 12-14 cm diameter, capsules fewer seeded (50-80 seeds per fruit).

Not on the Plant List of accepted species names. In Osia Gideon's monograph under this spelling.

HORTICULTURAL NOTES:
Listed at El Arish Tropical Exotics in Australia under the spelling T. paulistris
"Tapeinochilos paulistris is a extremely rare and hard to source Tapeinochilos. The almost black bracts are very unusual and protrude rather than curving."
