Costus mulus (Meekiong, Ipor et Tawan) - This species was published in 2008 in Rheedea, Vol. 18 (2) - 2008. It is similar to Cheilocostus speciosus but differs by having a basal inflorescence and reddish band on the stamen. It was found in a limited area of Borneo, at Tutoh in Miri Division of Sarawak, in a small area at altitudes between 500 and 800 meters.
