Costus 'Moonluster' is a hybrid I bred in 2007 crossing Costus 'Belize Yellow' with Costus 'Sweet Charlotte'. The resulting hybrid is quite vigorous and flowers easily, producing a sheen to the leaves and beautifully colored flowers. It has survived outdoors in winter here where our temperatures regularly fall below freezing. I consider this to be my best hybrid Costus.

Cultivar description: Hybrid with the compact size and spreading shape of 'Sweet Charlotte' and the non-appendaged bracts and tubular flowers from 'Belize Yellow'. Stems and ligules are glabrous, leaves are slightly puberulous. Bracts are non-appendaged, dark red with green and yellow hi-lites, flowers are a unique deep coral color.
