Cultivar Registration Description: Similar to C. woodsonii but the bract tips curl outwards giving the effect of having appendaged bracts. All vegetative parts are glabrous, ligule is truncate, 8-10 mm long. Bracts are red maturing to deep maroon in color. Flowers are red-orange. Bracteole and calyx are red in contrast to the whitish bracteole and calyx of C. woodsonii.

Cultivar Registry Photo at Cultivar published in the Heliconia Society Quarterly Bulletin, Vol. 19, No. 4, December, 2013.

A plant by this name was acquired on eBay by Bob Campos of Houston, Texas. I saw this blooming in his garden in July 2005 and photographed it. It has red flowers and red bracts with unusual out-turned tips. Plant is glabrous throughout, short ligules, wide leaves with rounded base and shortly acuminate to acute apex. See comparison photos with C. woodsonii, has a much longer bracteole and red calyx and bracteole.
