BOTANICAL NOTES:

HORTICULTURAL NOTES:
Le Jardin Ombragé - newly planted spring 2000. From George Stamatis - Costus speciosus South African varigated form (not like the usual varigate, this one popped up here from seed, the varigation is creamy yellowish white in splashes or thin streaks throught the leaf, smaller growing than normal). Did not bloom. Potted up and moved to the greenhouse for the winter. Plant is 4-5 ft tall as of August 2001, but I do not see much difference in the variegation from the normal one. Plant lost to rhizome rot in 2001-02.
